Palestine International Airport

Graduation Project: Palestine International Airport 2023-2024 .
Architect : Ghazl Daraghmeh & Sajida Asakre

Palestine International Airport: A graduation project simulates the dream of independence due to the need of the State of Palestine for an airport after its actual independence from the entity, in addition to the economic and tourism benefits of the project, which will provide job opportunities for the Palestinian people, increase their income, and encourage the movement of tourists to and from the State of Palestine. The idea of the project is inspired by the Palestinian keffiyeh, which was and still is a symbol of the Palestinian people and their revolution, by dropping the fishing net lines drawn in the Palestinian keffiyeh on the roof of the building as a structural element that helps bring out the streamlined shape of the building. As for the shape of the building, it is inspired by the surrounding shape of the land of the project "Al Bqai'a", which consists of plateaus and valleys that reflect the beauty of the nature of Palestine in its terrain, and Al_ Bqai'a was chosen as the land for the project, for its compliance with all international standards for the airport lands, an area of the suburbs of Jerusalem located south of Jericho and west of the Dead Sea, with an area of 8 square kilometre’s. The terminal contains regular sections with important functions, including: duty free, administration areas, passport and visa inspection offices, spacious internal courtyards to receive all passengers, in addition to the bridge area and gates, so that it includes 19 gates, aircraft platforms interspersed with two runways for take-off with a length of 3000 meters, and parking spaces on the opposite side that accommodate 2,500 cars.
